When we talk about vacations, there are a number of well-known tourist spots which you can choose from. However, there are numerous less known vacation spots which are yet to be discovered by the majority of us. These places are yet untouched and unfazed by modernization and reckless commercialization. Some of these places do not have any fast food joints, there may be only one grocer in the entire vicinity and just one gas station, but you may be able to get some of the best authentic traditional food of the area.
Best Little Known Holiday Destinations
When we talk about vacations, we often hear names of some of the most famous destinations in the world such as Hawaii, London, New York, California, Paris, Switzerland, etc. However, there are a lot of other destinations in the world which are actually worth vacationing in.
Montenegro and Croatia
Montenegro is located in southeastern Europe and it is neighbored by Croatia to its west. Both the countries have long histories. If you want to experience the Mediterranean, then these are the countries which you should take your next trip to. You will be able to experience the Mediterranean climate with the cuisine and culture. Montenegro has a picturesque coast and is also blessed with mountainous regions in the north. If history and archeology is what you like, then you may want to visit some of the ancient towns located in Montenegro.
Like Montenegro, Croatia is also blessed with a picturesque, extensive coastline. There are some of the best coastal Renaissance towns. Some of the cities still have the medieval castles. You can take a cruise along the coastline. There are a number of towns in Croatia which you can include in your itinerary.
Pinawa, Manitoba
Another great spot for a holiday is Pinawa, Manitona. It is a quaint little town. The Winnipeg river flows next to the town. One can indulge in boating, kayaking, canoeing, and a number of other water recreational activities. This is one of the options for golf vacations. It has an 18-hole golf course. This place also has curling rink and one can go on long stretches of cross-country ski trails. If you are fond of wildlife, then you must at least take a mini vacation, if not a full-fledged one, in Manitoba.
Barrier Islands
You may want to consider Barrier islands, which are located off the coast of South Carolina, if you are looking for spots that are closer to home. You can take beach vacations on islands like Fripp, Pawley’s, Edisto, etc. These islands still have a rustic feel about them and development has not touched these islands as much. These islands can be on your next summer destinations list.
Bequia, Caribbean
Bequia is an island in St. Vincent and Grenadines. These islands are enchanting and are located to the west of Barbados. For honeymooning, you may want to opt for these picturesque, serene island destinations. Your honeymoon can be marked with activities like scuba diving, sailing, swimming, fishing, etc., in the island.
Michigan
As compared to most other states in the United States, the entire state of Michigan has not be explored by tourists. One can take many a family holiday in this state. There is the Detroit Institute of Arts, Henry Ford’s Greenfield village, etc. which may be of interest to you. There are a number of cultural activities which one can undertake in Michigan. If the beach is a must, then you can make the most of the various beach towns in Michigan.
There are numerous other less known vacation spots all around the world. In most of these places you will be able to rent homes and have a comfortable stay in the lap of nature. You will also be able to experience the culture and art of the quaint places, not to forget the cuisine, which may not be possible even in the most expensive restaurants anywhere in the world.
